Member of jury: Ralf Sochaczewsky

Ralf Sochaczewsky is a versatile conductor.

He was member of the Young Conductors Programme of the German Council of Music and he conducted the European premiere of the Pulitzer Price (2015) winning oratoria “Antracite Fields” by Julia Wolfe. He has been working with orchestras such as the London Philharmonic, Konzerthausorchester Berlin and National Radio Orchestra Bucarest as well as opera at the Bolshoi Theatre Moscow, Komische Oper Berlin and many more. He has a great carrier as a choir conductor. He has been conducting choirs such as The Netherlands Broadcasting Choir, Berliner Rundfunkchor and DR Vokalensemblet. Ralf Sochaczewsky is chief conductor of the Berlin Choir Cantus Domus.

Ralf Sochaczewsky also worked with Pop Groups and artists like Damien Rice, Bon Iver etc.


Member of jury: David Hill

Professor David Hill has a long and distinguished career as one of the leading conductors in Europe. He has held appointments as chief conductor of the BBC Singers, musical director of the Bach Choir, chief conductor of the Southern Sinfonia, music director of the Leeds Philharmonic Society, and associate guest conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. In 2002 he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Southampton in recognition of his services to music. In 2007 he was named an honorary member of the Royal School of Church Music and in 2010 an honorary fellow of the Royal Academy of Music.

Alice Granum is a known figure in the Danish music society; besides conducting The Fionian Chamber Choir, she also conducts the philharmonic choir in Southern Jutland. Furthermore, she is often invited to teach at courses and events both here in Denmark and abroad.

Povl Balslev is the organist, cantor and carilloneur of Our Lady’s Church of Svendborg. He has a degree from DKDM and studied at the Sweelinck Academy of Music in Amsterdam, too. He gives a lot of concerts and has made concerts in many European countries besides in USA, Argentina and Japan. He´s the conductor of the concert-choir ”Our Lady´s cantori” and the youth choir ”SNUK”.

He started the SyngSydfyn choirfestival in 2011.
